Desayuno Americano

Aunque Harley's American Restaurant & Cocktail Bar es aqui en Tenerife y no por otra parte del mundo tengo que incluirlo en mi blog por unas cosas en particular.......  El primero es por el desayuno Americano que ofrece ahi....especialmente el "New York Eggs Benedict".

 Estuve realmente suerte de tener primero trató de este plato en el New York Plaza Hotel, que debo decir que fue increíble, y desde ese día me quedó enganchado. Obviamente, no lo como todos los días para el desayuno ... demasiado de algo bueno ... pero yo me trato por lo menos una vez a la semana!


Por los quien no saben lo que es o quien nunca lo ha probado (pobrecitos!) New York Eggs Benedict consiste de huevos escalfados, salmón ahumado o tocino, y salsa holandesa, que se presentan en panecillos Inglés (homemade English muffins).  La combinación de sabores es tan grande, me encanta!  Ademas, los desayunos en Harleys American Restaurante son ideales para solucionar una resaca... con una amplia variedad de platos como el filete y los huevos "Steak & Eggs" hasta Pancakes estadounidense "American Pancakes" para elegir.

También recomiendo el desayuno para la celebración alternativa .... el año pasado tuve una fiesta de cumpleaños desayuno allí y fue genial ... comimos cargas y lo bajaba con café Lavazza y Champagne!

American Breakfasts

Even though Harley's American Restaurant & Cocktail Bar is here in Tenerife and not in another part of the world I have to include it in my blog for some things in particular...  The first is for the American breakfast that they offer...especially the New York Eggs Benedict.


I am actually lucky enough to have first tried this dish in The New York Plaza Hotel which I must say was amazing, and since that day I became hooked.  Obviously I don't eat this every day for breakfast...too much of a good thing...but I do treat myself at least once a week!

For those who don't know what it isor who have never tried it (poor things!) it is poached eggs, smoked salmon or bacon, served on English muffins, topped with Hollandaise sauce.  The combination of flavour is so good  - I just love it!!

Furthermore, the breakfasts in Harleys are ideal to sort out a hangover with a range of dishes such as "Steak & Eggs" through to "American Pancakes" to choose from.  

I also recommend the breakfast for the alternative celebration....last year I had a Birthday Breakfast Party there and it was great...we ate loads and washed it down with Lavazza coffees & Champagne !!!

ENTRANTE - ISLA FENNLOE

Disculparme el retraso en la presentación de tu entrante!  Espero que haber gustado tú aperitivo pero ahora nuestro viaje va a empezar de verdad.  El “Entrante” es una selección de platos pequeños, algunos de ellos muy parecidos a tapas.  Son pequeños platos que son muy típicos de la Isla Fennloe que es donde les ha probado en el apropiado llamado Restaurante Isla Fennloe.  La isla es una pequeña y pintoresco isla volcánico situado en el océano atlántico entre las Islas Canarias e islas Cabo Verde.
 
Su comida es absolutamente deliciosa, con influencias de ambos España y África.  Como puedes ver de las fotos la mayoría de las entrantes están servidas con un pan tomate muy parecido al pan catalán.  Los platos que hemos probado en ese día eran una mezcla de embutidos, quesos muy fuertes, y tomates con especias.  Todos las entrantes están servidos con un zumo que solo puedo descubrir como un “Gazpacho Bloody Mary” – era estupendo!!

  Su amplia selección de vinos incluye muchos conocidos de España, Sur de África,  Islas Cabo Verde y también, un vino cultivado en su propia isla, Vino Isla Fennloe, que es el vino que hemos tomado, naturalmente!!  Tiene una textura suave y afrutada y un precio muy razonable.  Cuando no está comiendo o tomando hay mucho mas de hacer en la isla – las playas son simplemente un paraíso y por los que les gustan a bucear o snorkel Isla Fennloe es imprescindible.

Starters

Sorry for the delay in presentation of your starter!  I hope you enjoyed the Aperitif but now our journey has really begun.  The “Starter” is a selection of dishes, some of them actually very similar to Spanish tapas.  They are small dishes which are typical of Isla Fennloe which is where I tried them, in the aptly named Restaurant Isla Fennloe. 

 

The island is a very small & quaint volcanic island located in the Atlantic Ocean between the Canary Islands & Cape Verde Islands.  Their food is absolutely delicious, with both Spanish & African influences.  As you can see from the photos most of the starters are served with tomato bread very similar to the Catalan bread served in Barcelona.  The dishes we tried on that day were a mixture of cold meats, strong cheeses & spicy tomatoes.  All starters are served with a juice which I can only describe as a “Gazpacho Bloody Mary” – it was lovely!!

  Their vast wine selection included many favourites from Spain, South Africa, Cabo Verde Islands and their locally produced Isla Fennloe wine, which is of course the one we tried.  It has a smooth & fruity texture without being too heavy and is very reasonably priced.  In between eating & drinking there is so much more to do on the Island – the beaches are simply paradise and for those who like to dive or snorkel Isla Fennloe is a must!!!
